What is your reservation and refund policy?
Full payment is required at time of booking. Guests must be age 21+ to reserve our wagons. We know that plans can sometimes change. We offer a full refund for reservations canceled four (4) or more weeks prior to check-in date, 50% refund for reservations canceled two (2) weeks or more prior to check-in date, and no refund for reservations canceled less than two (2) weeks prior to check-in date.
In case of inclement weather on the day of your check-in, please contact us. We will do our best to accommodate you on a different date or refund your payment.
Can I bring my children and my pets?
Children are very welcome at Best Nest! We ask that at least one adult (21+) is present in each accommodation.
Please leave your pets at home. We have working dogs, barn cats and alpacas on the property. If you need an animal fix, our dogs and barn cats (especially Ernie the cat) will be happy to accept your hugs and kisses!
What is provided? What should we bring?
We provide: all bedding, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, TP, our favorite bug spray.
Our wagons are equipped with a flush toilet, shower, sink, small refrigerator, microwave, and a Keurig with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.
Each glampsite is equipped with a fire pit, 4 Adirondack chairs, and a Weber propane grill.
What you may want to bring:
Food, water bottle, your favorite beverages, adult beverages (provided you are 21+), a cooler with ice for perishables that may not fit in the mini fridge.
Clothing appropriate to the season, shoes for hiking, kayaking, walking in alpaca areas (not your best shoes in other words), and maybe some slippers or cozy socks for hanging out in the wagon.
Sunscreen, bug spray, tick repellent, flashlight/headlamp, a good book, games…
What you may not bring: firearms, fireworks, illegal substances, motorized vehicles (including ATVs), pets
What is your smoking policy?
The entire property is smoke-free, this includes vaping. A $250 clean-up fee will be collected if smoke smell is detected in the wagons. Thank you for your cooperation.
Can I get wifi/cell reception?
Wifi and cell reception can be spotty on the property. You are coming here to unplug and relax, right? If you need to watch your favorite movie, we suggest you download it before arriving. If you need to make a call and your network isn’t cooperating, we do have a land line that you can use.
What is your check-in/check-out procedure?
Check-in time is 3:00 pm, Check-out time is 11:00 am.
Park in designated “guest parking” areas.
Check-in is located in the sunroom at the back of the house. Walk around the garage and follow the sidewalk to the big deck. You can’t miss it, but we will be there to guide you if you need assistance.
Can we fish, kayak, and swim in the lake?
Yes, fishing is on a catch and release basis. An Iowa fishing license is required for those age 16 and above. The license can be purchased through the link on our website:
www.iowadnr.gov . You are welcome to bring your fishing rod/tackle box, or you may rent equipment when you make your reservation.
We have a limited number of kayaks for use. Children are required to use a life jacket (we provide or you can bring) at all times when participating in water activities. Adults are strongly encouraged to wear a life jacket. Water activities are at your own risk, Best Nest Farm accepts no responsibility for injuries. There is no lifeguard on duty at any time.
No swimming is allowed.
